NASA’s “Deep Impact” Mission Success for Science, Agency’s Image

I was glad to hear that NASA’s "Deep Impact" mission was a complete success this morning. Aside from the obvious scientific benefit, it gives NASA some good (and much-needed) PR. NASA has certainly had its problems, and the Columbia explosion in 2003 didn’t help much. The Mars Rover mission has been a remarkable success, however, and NASA has been doing some incredible work with unmanned missions to space.

I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll see successful manned trips to the moon and Mars while I’m still young.
